Hi! I’m Amaris (pronounced AM-ah-ris) and a mom to a four-year-old son and step-mom to a 22 year-old son. When my four-year old son was first born, I worked full-time in marketing and video production, but an accident changed my career. I am now a stay-at-home mom and work-from-home travel agent. I joined NHPP when my neighbor introduced me, and I am so thankful she did.
My early days of mothering were tough. My four year old was born prematurely at 29 weeks which resulted in a 69 day long NICU stay. I knew parenting was tough, but I was not prepared for how difficult it would be! Once our son was home, it felt like everything was finally getting back on track to a “normal” experience. We joined NHPP when my son was about one year old and I was excited to meet other moms and for my son to make new friends. We attended several field trips and I signed up to work on the field trip committee. It was a wonderful experience and I’ve met a lot of awesome families. My son and I both made several friends and we continue to keep in touch even through the pandemic. I am looking forward to getting back to a new normal for NHPP and to welcome more families to our community as other members did for me when I first joined.

I am a stay at home mom to my son Luke (4). Shortly after he was born, I left my job in community relations at a local college, and I joined NHPP to meet some other parents and kids for us to hang out with. We both needed some socialization!
NHPP has been great! We have made great friends and learned about a lot of activities for kids that I probably wouldn’t have otherwise known about, or it would have taken me years to discover on my own!
Something about myself…hmmm… I try to cook healthy meals and exercise regularly, but sometimes I need help staying on track! In my spare time I enjoy watching sitcoms. Ted Lasso is my favorite that is current, and I watch re-runs of The Big Bang Theory, Friends and The Office. I also like to listen to the news on NPR and to 90’s and early 2000’s music – when I’m not listening to Spotify Kids with Luke!
